I am happy for you jackdakota, that everything worked out great. I’m 21 years old and I have been thinking about LASIK. I am fed up with my long distance blurr. Your video gave me sort of hope because it did not seem so bad.

there is already a procedure that does not remove the cornea lens flap. its lasEK and works on the surface of your eye. it is used if a patients cornea is too thin to make a flap. however if you have this done be prepared for 2-5 days of INTENSE pain afterwards. i said to myself if i had 2 have this done i would stick with my contacts.

3) long term effects are known fully. this is not a new procedure in the slightest and has been performed since 1995. the ony new aspects are intralase (the making of the ‘flap’ without using a blade but instead using a laser very very accurately.) and the introduction of wavefront(mapping your eye and tailoring the laser to match your eye exactly.) 15 years of a surgery is a very long time. 4) pills will never be able to correct eyesight. pills can not change the shape of your cornea.

1) procedure is not risky and has one of the smallest complication rates out of all cosmetic procedures. 2) i paid 3000 for my surgery. Over 20 years of contacts and glasses I would pay around 3500-4000. im 20 years old and this surgery is going to last me for life (untill my eyes start to deteriorise naturally). also takes away all hassle of taking out contacts b4 bed or after a night out forgetting to take em out.and the many times during rugby they have been knocked from my eye!!

A few points: (1) Anyone considering medical school should first watch a video like this; (2) This procedure is unnecessarily risky; you cannot buy another pair of eyes; (3) $3000/10 = $300/hr for the surgeon; (4) long-term effects are unknown since this is a new procedure; (5) More than likely, a less invasive technique to improve vision will be available in the very near future (either pills or a procedure that does not involve removing cornea lens flap).

ABC News, Feb. 25th, 2010: 7:40am, “Interview with Former Ex FDA Chief of Medical Devices, Morris Waxler, PHD,” stated “We Messed Up With LASIK Being FDA Approved.” Doctors now are lying to patients telling patients they suffer from temporary side effects that go away, when they do not go away and should be told the truth, that they suffer from permanent complications! This actually doesn’t look too bad… But… the way my eyes are… Apparently I can’t get this. I dunno… My eyes suck in a certain way that apparently there isn’t surgery for yet. Can anyone tell me why?
