I had Lasik eye surgery 3 days ago (on Friday). I guess the nurse didn’t give me enough anesthesia because when they cut open my right eye it hurt like hell. they gave me more anesthesia after i told them it hurt. My vision is great now but if i try to look at something close by my vision gets blurry. You vision is supposed to stay perfect. But since these surgeries are new they don’t know what the long term effects are.

I just had PRK done. I would recommend PRK over LASIK any day. With PRK you don’t have to deal with a flap over your cornea. Even though PRK has more post-operative pain and takes longer for the eyes to heal it is still better than LASIK in terms of reducing the risk of long-term complications.

After you have the surgery, will your eye vision stay perfect, or will it go back to it’s original vision over a few years? And is there any side effects or risks the PRK might have?

I would really appreciate it if someone who had the surgery could answer my questions please because I have bad eye vision and I really can’t see far away.

£395 per eye They will still be charging that price in 200yrs time.

ouchyyy,, were you awake? could you feel anything? could you see anything?

PRK, the advantage to PRK is they’re not cutting a flap into the eye. If PRK isn’t successful you can relaser the eye b/c the eye is regenerating cells after surgery so basically you can cut back into the eye again b/c the new cells are in place. and the eye can be reshaped a 2nd time if need be. you still need to be cautious.

the lens is inserted to protect the eye during recovery and healing.

Why did he put a lense in your eye after?

prk has a bit more pain than lasik, which as far as i know, is rather painless.

I just had ASA laser surgery jan 28,2010 by Dr Gailitis i am very pleased with the out come the entire procedure took less than ten minutes. I was able to see immediately but was advised to keep my eyes closed for the remainder of the day. I too slept about 48 hours. my vision is better day by day. The clear protective contact is removed after the eye has healed. my vision was -4.75 now i see at 20/20. Very very happy with the outcome! The procedure wasnt painful at all.

i got it done on friday. the surgery itself didn’t hurt at all. i was fine until about a day later. then my eyes stung really really bad.. i basically slept 48 hours straight due to this and was fine after just eyes were really sensitive to light.. i now feel great but my eyes are still a little blurry. it has been getting better by the day. my surgeon recommended prk over lasik. he said if it was his brother or wife he would make them get prk over lasik no questions asked. hope this helps!

Can you choose PRK even if you dont have thin layer on your eyes?

  • Destro4thewin March 1, 2010 at 6:35 pm

is fucking scary i dont think i can do it!!!

  • HelenoPaiva March 1, 2010 at 7:01 pm

    no flap in this technique.
in the end he/she puts sterile contact lens in order to protect the unprotected cornea from harms that would affect the cornea while it has no epitellium.
check it again: he brings the lenses from far away, and it is perfectly circular and is bigger than the iris itself.

    ok thx alot!

PRK is older than LASIK, it has advantages and disadvantages when compared to PRK. my gf had PRK because she had way to thin cornea to correct her strong myopia (-13 in the right eye) so LASIK would not be the best choice for her – but each patient is a different issue: your ophthalmologist is the best person to decide.

  • iloveushorstak March 1, 2010 at 8:35 pm

    whasts better prk or lasik?

  • longdongsilber March 1, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Had PRK myself just 10 days ago at LasikPlus. So far already 20/25 vision, NO dry eyes, NO halos or starbursts, only annoyance is at end of day when I’m tired vision dips to 20/40 or 20/50 and computer screen looks blurry, I’m sure it will get better still have alot of healing left
