Receiving Intraocular Lenses or Intacs as an Alternative to

By Staff in Categories: LASIK

www.toronto-laser.com Some patients may not be the right candidates for LASIK or PRK procedures. YELC does, however, offer alternative treatments and procedures to aid in bettering eyesight. Intraocular lenses can be inserted straight into the eye during a surgical procedure. An implanted intraocular lens has the ability to fix very high degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Another alternative to LASIK are intacs, which are tiny segments of plastic that are inserted into the cornea. Though intacs were originally developed to treat low degrees of nearsightedness, they have been found to be especially effective in people with unusually- or irregularly-shaped corneas. The intacs are able to smooth out the cornea, improving vision.
